Chemical Grade Designations

Product quality is ProSource Scientific’s number one priority. Strict quality control standards are maintained to ensure the quality of our products is never compromised. The chemical grades appearing in this catalogue are defined as follows:

ACS Grade
Chemicals which meet or exceed the requirements of the American Chemical Society as listed in the latest edition “Reagent Chemicals, American Chemical Society Specifications”.

Reagent Grade
Chemicals of high purity for which there are no official standards. Purity specifications are reported directly on the label for most items.

Volumetric Solutions
Prepared from reagent grade chemicals and standardized against NIST primary standards.

Lab Grade
Chemical which generally meet or exceed the specifications listed in the latest edition of “United States Pharmacopeia/National Formulary (USP/NF)”.

HPLC Grade
Solvents which are distilled in glass and filtered and suitable for use in High Performance Liquid Chromatography.

Electronic Grade
Solvents and acids used for special applications. They conform to SEMI specifications.

Glass Distilled
Solvents of high purity which are distilled in glass and generally intended for use in pesticide residue analysis.

Spectrograde
Solvents which are suitable for use in spectrophotometry. These generally meet or exceed the requirements of the American Chemical Society as listed in the latest edition of “Reagent Chemicals, American Chemical Society Specifications”.

Purified/Practical Grade
Chemicals of good quality where there are no official standards but which are of sufficiently high purity to be suitable for many uses.

Technical
Commercial grade chemicals which are clean and of reasonable chemical purity. These are generally intended for industrial use but also find use in some laboratory applications.
